MNUFC2 lost 2-0 against Ventura County FC at the National Sports Center Stadium on Sunday night. Two conceded penalty kick goals from VCFC’s Luis Muller put MNUFC2 at a deficit, and though the Twos created multiple second-half scoring chances, they ultimately couldn’t make a comeback.
3’ - Ventura County FC earned their first scoring chance on a corner kick as Luis Miller crossed the ball and connected with Christopher Rindov’s head, who redirected the ball off the crossbar and out.
12’ - VCFC then recorded another scoring opportunity as Nick Sullivan received a cross on the far post and attempted a quick two-touch shot, ultimately sending the ball right of MNUFC2 goalkeeper Kayne Rizvanovich’s right post.
16’ (0-1) - Luis Muller gave his Southern California squad the lead after he converted a penalty kick following a handball in the box.
21’ - MNUFC2 created their first scoring chance as Luke Hille took a shot at the center of the 18-yard box and sent the ball over the right corner of goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski’s net.
40’ - On a counterattack, Luis Muller quickly advanced the ball into the left side of the 18-yard box. He met MNUFC2 defender Britton Fischer and quickly struck a close-distance shot at Rizvanovich, who redirected the ball out to the right corner over to Ventura County forward Sean Karani. Karani then dribbled the ball into the six-yard box where he took a shot aimed between Rizanovich and the right post, which resulted in another Rizanovich save from close range.
64’ - MNUFC2 found their first scoring chance of the second half as Troy Putt passed the ball back towards Calov atop the center of the 18-yard box, where he sent the ball to Marcinkowski’s left side that ultimately bounced and was corralled by the Ventura County FC goalkeeper.
71’ (0-2) - Luis Muller tallied his second goal of the match and extended VCFC’s lead after converting another penalty kick that followed a Kieran Chandler foul in the penalty area.
81’ - MNUFC2 forward Logan Dorsey, who made his first game appearance since April after returning from injury, created a dangerous scoring opportunity as he received a ball from Loic Mesanvi and quickly struck the ball to Marcinkowski, who ran up to challenge the threat and ultimately made a smothering save.
