MNUFC2 earned a 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday afternoon at the National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minnesota. Jakob Friedman opened the scoring in the first half with the club’s 200th goal before Dairus Randell doubled the lead early in the second half to secure all three points for The Twos. MNUFC2 now turns its attention to a home matchup against Sporting Kansas City II on June 8 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
20’ - MNUFC2 created a dangerous opportunity following a long throw-in for The Twos. The ball fell loose near the top of the 18-yard box for Troy Putt, who fired a one-touch attempt, but the shot sailed just wide of the right post.
25’ - Dairus Randell continued to push forward in search of the opening goal for The Twos. MNUFC2 defender Sam Vigilante won possession in the attacking third and slipped a quick through ball to Randell. Randell settled the ball with a touch before firing a shot that narrowly missed the top-right corner.
29’ - Vigilante slid in to intercept a pass near the top of the Rapids 2 penalty area. Randell recovered possession and quickly took an attempt, but the opportunity was denied by goalkeeper Kendall Starks.
41’ (1-0) - Jakob Friedman opened the scoring for MNUFC2, recording the club’s 200th goal in the process. Max Harwood, positioned near the top of the attacking third, played Kieran Chandler down the left flank. Chandler then delivered a cross across the face of goal, where Nick Dang redirected the ball with a header before Friedman finished it off with a header of his own into the back of the net.
52’ (2-0) - Randell doubled the lead shortly after the second half started. Friedman slipped Randell a long through ball down the right flank. Randell then carried the ball into the box, and fired an attempt on the close angle to put it over the line
