Minnesota United looks to move to 2-0-0 this weekend as it travels to San Jose to face the Earthquakes. The Loons won both of the games in this series last year, scoring three times in each game. The Quakes are riding high after stealing a point off 2019 MLS Cup runner-up Toronto FC with a late free kick to secure the draw, and will be hungry for three points against MNUFC. Adrian Heath’s men had San Jose’s number in 2019 and will look to use their dangerous counterattack to continue the trend on Saturday. With the attack firing on all cylinders and the defense continuing to stand tall, Minnesota will be dangerous as it looks to make it three-straight wins against San Jose.

Minnesota United has started this season with two strong road wins and will now look to carry that momentum at home against the New York Red Bulls. The Loons lost just once at Allianz Field during the regular season and have cultivated a massive home-field advantage in just once season at their new home. The Red Bulls are fresh off a frustrating road draw in Salt Lake City and still looking for their identity after the departures of star players Bradley Wright-Phillips and Luis Robles in the offseason. With eight goals in the first two games, the Loons’ attackers are brimming with confidence heading into the home matchup against the Red Bulls, as they seek to remain among the undefeated squads in MLS.
Minnesota United’s main priority is the safety, health and well-being of our fans, players and staff. We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely, partnering with Major League Soccer and our local health officials, adhering to the Centers for Disease Control guidance, and communicating with other sports organizations in our area to help ensure a safe environment in our stadium at our home opener on Sunday, March 15 and throughout the rest of our season at Allianz Field. Given all inputs to date, our home opener will be played as scheduled.
