MLS has entered into a Loan Agreement for Toye. This agreement contains a right of recall for MLS, which enables Toye to play for Colorado Springs and MNUFC throughout the duration of the loan period, subject to roster rules and compliance.

“It’s something we have been trying to address for a while,” said MNUFC Head Coach Adrian Heath. “Mason has clearly got loads of talent and he has showed glimpses with the first team. This is a great opportunity for him to start to play more football week in and week out. He has a ton of upside, but needs more time playing against professionals in competitive matches. He’s going to benefit immensely from this.”

Toye, 19, was selected seventh overall by MNUFC in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft from Indiana University. The Generation adidas forward earned numerous accolades during his freshman year with the Hoosiers, leading the Big Ten with 10 goals on the season –– including five game-winners –– and adding a pair of assists to win Big Ten Freshman of the Year, first-team All-Big Ten, Big Ten All-Freshman Team and first-team United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region accolades. Additionally, he led Indiana to the 2017 NCAA National Championship final, where it fell 1-0 to Stanford in double overtime.

He made his professional debut as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win over Orlando City SC on March 10, assisting Ethan Finlay’s winner. In the time since, Toye has featured for a total of 259 minutes across 14 games, registering four of eight shots on target.

Minnesota United’s next home match is on Saturday, September 22 against the Portland Timbers at 7:00 p.m. CT. Season tickets for 2019 at Allianz Field might be sold out, but you can join The Preserve, the official Allianz Field Waiting List, and enjoy terrific benefits today. Visit MNUFC.COM for more info.
