Opara Named to MLS Team of the Week

With the opening goal on Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Seattle Sounders FC, Ike Opara has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 10. This is his second Team of the Week appearance in 2019, last featuring in Week 6.

Opara has been a key part of Minnesota’s impressive defensive form, with the Loons conceding just one goal in the past three games. The U.S. national team defender was also a major threat on offensive set pieces and headed in the opening goal against Seattle, his first as a member of MNUFC. He won four aerial balls, made seven clearances, two tackles and two interceptions to keep the Loons undefeated at Allianz Field.
