In the First Round of the historic national tournament, the Twos traveled to the Windy City and defeated amateur side Chicago House A.C. by a 3-0 score on Wednesday, March 20. Minnesota United forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith was the hat-trick hero on the night while MNUFC2 goalkeeper Alec Smir earned his first clean sheet of 2024.

On top of those two accomplishments, the MNUFC2 squad against Chicago House A.C. saw five MNUFC Academy U19 players (M Justin Arias, F Julian Banks, D Dom Mawing, M Nathan Moua and M Dom Vargas) make their first professional game appearances. Fellow Academy players also saw continued professional-level action on Wednesday, including U19 defenders Jonah Gasho and Tamer Ibsais along with U17 forward Darius Randell.

Michigan Stars FC enters the Second Round having narrowly defeated Steel City FC (NPSL) by a 1-0 score. Located in Washington, Michigan – a northern suburb of the greater Detroit metro – Michigan Stars have competed in NISA since 2019. The club recently finished the 2023 NISA season as runners-up, and in 2022 captured the league title, finishing with a 10-5-8 (W-L-D) record.
