MNUFC2 earned a commanding 5-2 victory over St. Louis CITY2 on Saturday afternoon at Allianz Field behind standout performances from forwards Marcus Caldeira and Darius Randell. Caldeira recorded his second hat trick of the season and became the first player in club history to score multiple hat tricks in a single campaign. Randell added a brace and three goal contributions, helping the Twos overcome a pair of CITY2 equalizers and pull away with three second-half goals. The five-goal performance marked MNUFC2’s highest-scoring output of the 2026 season and the first time the club has scored five goals in a match since May 29, 2022.  MNUFC2 returns to action on the road on Wednesday, June 24, when the Twos travel to face LAFC2 at USC Rawlinson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT.

7’ - St Louis CITY2 created the first dangerous opportunity of the match through Patrick McDonald after he received a cross near the penalty spot from Adeteye Gbadehan. McDonald’s attempt sailed just over the crossbar.

15’ - Darius Randell won possession in the middle third and drove forward into the CITY2 penalty area. He then unleashed a right-footed effort, but the shot drifted just wide of the left post.

21’ - St Louis CITY2 generated another scoring chance on a free kick outside the right edge of the box that was played short to Andrew De Gannes who took a shot directly at Twos’ goalkeeper Kristers Bite. The ball was deflected by Luciano Pechota, and Bite made the save.

26’ (1-0) - MNUFC2 opened the scoring on quick-passing play as Pechota found Troy Putt at the top of the box. Putt then tipped the ball up to Marcus Caldeira who gained possession inside the box and took a shot at the far side of the goal that beat the diving CITY2 goalkeeper Colin Welsh.

33’ (1-1) - CITY2 evened the scoring on an own goal from Jack Clarkson who ran back to defend a turnover. Palmer Ault ran into the left side of the box and fired a shot at Bite. The ball deflected off of Bite, and continued to roll towards the goal. Clarkson tried to clear the ball, but was put in the net.

39’ - St Louis CITY2 continued to apply offensive pressure and generated another dangerous scoring opportunity. Riley Lynch drove into the left side of the penalty area and fired a shot that deflected off an MNUFC2 defender before ricocheting off the crossbar. McDonald collected the rebound and quickly attempted a follow-up effort, but his shot rolled wide of the left post and out of play.

42’ (2-1) - The Twos doubled their lead through Caldeira’s second goal of the first half. An MNUFC2 defender cleared the ball upfield, and the clearance fell to Randell in the attacking third. Randell turned and slipped a short through ball into the path of Caldeira down the left channel. Caldeira broke in on goal and found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Welsh before calmly slotting his shot into the far corner to find the back of the net.

52’ - Goalkeeper Kristers Bite came up with a crucial save to preserve MNUFC2’s lead after Ault generated a dangerous opportunity for St Louis CITY2. Pearson threaded a through ball down the middle of the field, allowing Ault to break behind the defense. Ault fired a shot from near the top of the penalty area, but Bite reacted quickly and dove to his right to make the save.

53’ - Shortly after, Randell produced another scoring chance for the Twos as he drove the ball up the left side of the pitch, as Caldeira ran towards the back post. Randell took the shot aimed at the right post, but Welsh made the save.

63’ (2-2) - CITY2 found the equalizer through Ault after Chidube Nwankwo delivered a cross into the penalty area. Ault brought the ball down with his first touch before cutting inside to create space. After lifting his head to assess his options, he curled a shot toward the far post, finding the back of the net to level the match.

67’ - Caldeira again found himself on a run up the right side of the pitch on a ball from Pechota. Caldeira took the ball into the box and sent a pass over to his left that Randell collected and struck a shot, but Welsh dove and made the save.

69’ (3-2) - Caldeira re-gained the lead for the Twos and scored a hat trick as Hector Cruz put Randell on a run into the left side of the box. Randell then found a wide-open Caldeira standing in the middle of the box, who tapped the ball into the right side of the net.

72’ (4-2) - Shortly after, Randell got a goal of his own after Jordan Adebayo-Smith slipped Caldeira a short pass down the right flank. Caldeira carried near the endline and then made a long switch into the six-yard for Randell to push over the line.

85’ (5-2) - Randell extended the MNUFC2 lead and scored a brace as he received a lobbed pass from a Twos defender, won the possession battle against a CITY2 defender, took the ball into the six-yard box, and struck it into the net.

90’ + 1  - Luke Hille found Jordan Adebayo-Smith in the center of the pitch, who took the ball and sprinted through the entire offensive half, ultimately taking a shot from inside CITY2’s box, but the ball connected with the right post and into the hands of Welsh.
