MATCHUP QUICK FACTS

  • Minnesota United won both their games the week of May 10, both at Allianz Field and both 1-0 defeats: first over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on May 12 and then over FC Dallas on May 15.
  • For their roles in the six-point week, midfielder Robin Lod and goalkeeper Tyler Miller were named to the Audi Team of the Week. Lod got a starting spot for his assist against Vancouver and his 94th minute gamewinner against Dallas, while Miller got onto the bench for two clean sheets.
  • These were Miller’s first appearances for the team since undergoing season-ending hip surgery in 2020 following the MLS Is Back Tournament and his first-ever starts at Allianz Field since signing with the team in 2020.
  • Robin Lod currently leads the team in both goals (2) and assists (2). He is also fourth in the league in xG+xA with 4.32.
  • Lod’s streak of four games with a goal or assist has him tied with Valentin Castellanos of NYCFC for best in MLS this season, but his streak is active, meaning he can stretch it to five with an assist or goal against RSL.
  • MNUFC continue to lead the league in shots with 105, although Sporting Kansas City have now tied their total efforts after last week’s bye.
  • Emanuel Reynoso is second in key passes — passes that lead directly to a shot attempt — with 23. New England Revolution’s Carles Gil is first with 29.
  • David Ochoa’s clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Nashville SC on May 15 made him the youngest goalkeeper to record a shutout in MLS history at 20 years, 119 days.
  • Ochoa received his first call-up to the USMNT for a friendly against Switzerland on May 30, meaning he will be unavailable for the tilt against Minnesota United.
  • Real Salt Lake had zero shots on goal in the goalless draw against Nashville, tied for first in fewest shots-on-goal by a team this season. RSL also committed zero fouls in the second half, making them the only team to play a spotless half this season.
  • Minnesota’s 19 second half shots against Dallas has them tied with Nashville for most shots in a half this season. Nashville’s 19 came in the second half of a 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati on April 17.
  • Four of Real Salt Lake’s eight goals on the season have come in the final 15 minutes of the first half, while four of the six goals they’ve conceded have come in the final 15 minutes of the second half.
  • Real Salt Lake have not trailed heading into the half in 2021.
  • Michael Boxall, Wil Trapp and Chase Gasper have played every minute for the Loons so far this season (540).
  • Minnesota have not won at Rio Tinto Stadium since joining MLS.
  • The Loons have scored 15 of their 17 all-time goals against the Claret-and-Cobalt in the second half.
  • Recent Minnesota additions Adrien Hunou (forward) and Franco Fragapane (midfielder) will be available for selection against Real Salt Lake.
