MNUFC To Host FC Augsburg

Minnesota United announced today that it will host FC Augsburg of the Bundesliga as the 2020 season’s international friendly on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Allianz Field. Season ticket members already have a ticket for this game – the 18th in their season ticket package – while tickets for the general public will go on sale January 17.


“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with the Bundesliga by welcoming another historic club to Allianz Field,” said MNUFC CEO Chris Wright. “We saw incredible success with our international friendlies in our first season at Allianz Field and we look to continue to develop these global soccer relationships. We hope this match will further put our club and our soccer community on the global soccer map. We look forward to showing FC Augsburg what our incredible fans, the Wonderwall and Allianz Field are all about.”


FC Augsburg are a club rich in tradition, established on August 8, 1907 – on the day of the German Peace Festival. Originally named FC Allemania, the club is the largest soccer club in Swabian, Bavaria. FC Augsburg has fluctuated between the second and third division in Germany was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in the 2010-11 season. Since 2009, FC Augsburg’s stadium has been the WWK Arena, which hosted the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Current Augsburg midfielder Carlos Guerzo is familiar with MLS, having played with FC Dallas from January of 2016 to July of 2019.
