Romario received his first call-up to the Tricolor in October 2017 for the final round of CONMEBOL qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He scored an 83rd-minute equalizer in his first match against Chile and added another goal to his account 38 seconds into his second appearance against Argentina.

So far for the Loons, Romario has featured on five occasions since his arrival to the club in July. He scored his first goal as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with LA Galaxy on August 11.

MNUFC captain and defender Francisco Calvo (Costa Rica) and midfielder Rasmus Schuller (Finland) also received call-ups for this international break. Calvo and the Ticos will face South Korea (September 7) and Japan (September 11) in their first matches since the FIFA World Cup in Russia, while Schuller and Finland will meet Hungary (September 8) and Estonia (September 11) in UEFA Nations League play.
