The new season will bring a new kit for Minnesota United — which you’ll get to check out at this Sunday’s kit reveal — but it also brings a whole new suite of options when it comes to what fans can get. The jersey has long been one of the ultimate songs of fealty for supporters, especially given the option to customize it with the name of a favorite player. Last year, MNUFC only had two options: a men’s short-sleeved authentic jersey or a youth replica jersey.
Now, the authentic line will include both short-sleeved and long-sleeved options. This is exactly what the players wear on the pitch and includes a wealth of details like neck tapes and jock tags to go along with performance fabric. The jersey is made using adidas’ Climacool technology, keeping you cool and dry in breathable fabrics. The front panel is 100% recycled polyester engineered fabric and weighs 125 grams. The back panel is 100% recycled polyester mesh fabric and weighs 140 grams. The sleeve fabric is 100% recycled polyester and weights 150 grams. All the fabric in the jersey has a hydrophilic finish to wick sweat away from the body.
The expanded replica line will include men’s short sleeve and women’s short sleeve in addition to the youth short sleeve. The replicas have Climalite technology instead of Climacool, which is mostly seen in the difference of the back panel is not a mesh and so weighs a bit more — just 10 grams. Like the authentics, though, the fabric wicks away moisture to keep you cool whether you’re on the pitch yourself in your rec league or cheering on the Loons on match day. The replicas also lack some of the bells and whistles that the authentics have.
