The Twos are back in action after some brief time off, taking their talents to Texas for their third matchup against North Texas SC in 2026. It’s a rubber-match with potential postseason implications, a roadtrip with real stakes. They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and as far as regular-season matches go, it’s fair to say this is bigger than the norm.
After three tough games in a row saw Head Coach Fanendo Adi and the boys earn just one point out of a possible nine, this third bite at the North Texas apple finds MNUFC2 in 10th place in the Western Conference, but only three points below the postseason cutoff line. The race is tight, and with MNUFC2 just a point behind ninth place North Texas, this match could set the tone for the final stretch of the season for both of these squads.
This weekend’s hosts enter this match in a similar vein of form, having earned mixed results against the likes of Austin FC II, Timbers2, and Tacoma Defiance in their last three matches. A win, a draw (and shootout win) and a loss completed the perfect set, with all five of those points coming at home. They’ve made Texas Health Mansfield Stadium (that’s a mouthful) into a fortress this season, earning points in eight of their 10 home contests, meaning your Loons will really have to bring it if they want to get the better of them.
That means star attacker Darius Randell is going to have to step up, as the Twos’ leading goal scorer Marcus Caldeira has earned his way into first-team minutes as of late. Randell’s six goals and three assists on the season have made him the team’s second most productive attacker, and his 52 total shots taken makes him the most consistently threatening presence on the team, bar none.
Meanwhile, Anderson Ferris and Luciano Pechota continue to lead the team, with the defender and midfielder standing out as the only two players to play in all 22 of the club’s games this season. Farris in particular has made huge strides this season, logging over 1,800 minutes in 20 starts at outside back.
For North Texas, the dangermen are Edouard Nys and Nathaniel James, whose nine and eight goals respectively have them head and shoulders above their teammates from an attacking standpoint. Nys also leads his side with 1,955 minutes played, having started all 22 matches this season.
With similar profiles, similar point totals, and similar form, it’s bound to be a tight contest this weekend. Your Twos will be hoping to get the better of NTSC like they did back in April, but that won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination.
