Along with their nominations for Landon Donovan MVP award, Minnesota United players Ibson and Christian Ramirez have been nominated for the MLS Newcomer of the Year award. The award is given to a player who has professional experience in other leagues and had an exceptional first season in MLS.

The award is voted on by the players, technical staffers and select members of the media.
