MNUFC Loans Kapp

Minnesota United FC has loaned goalkeeper Alex Kapp to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League (USL).

MLS has entered into a 2017 Standard USL Loan Agreement for Kapp. This agreement contains a right of recall for MLS, which enables Kapp to play for Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Minnesota United FC throughout the duration of the loan period (through the end of 2017), subject to roster rules and compliance.

Kapp was claimed off waivers by MNUFC on August 8, 2017. The former United States U17 national team member was selected 68th overall in the fourth round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Atlanta United FC. Prior to that, he featured for Boston College from 2012–15 and Creighton University as a graduate student in 2016, where he was named Big East Goalkeeper of the Year and selected to the NSCAA NCAA Division I All-American Third Team.

He will be the second Loon sent to Pittsburgh this season, following defender Joe Greenspan’s successful loan spell earlier this campaign. Greenspan spent a large part of April and May with the Riverhounds, where he played every minute of eight matches, made the Team of the Week twice and led his side to four clean sheets.
