MNUFC Fan Milestones

MNUFC Tickets

Minnesota United has hit two milestones ahead of its inaugural home match at TCF Bank Stadium this Sunday: The club is drawing closer to its Itasca Society member limit, with more than 11,000 season tickets sold out of 11,842, and has sold more than 33,000 tickets to its home debut against fellow expansion side Atlanta United with three days left before kickoff.

With a sellout capacity of 21,895, the lower bowl of TCF Bank Stadium has already been filled for Minnesota United’s home opener, allowing them to open up the upper level. The number of fans taking interest in the team ahead of its home debut bodes well for Minnesota as the club begins construction on its soccer-specific stadium in St. Paul. That stadium is expected to hold 20,000 fans and will be completed during the 2018 season.

Cold Like Minnesota

Minnesotans tend to have their eyes on the thermometer anyway, but they’re paying particularly close attention to the weather ahead of kickoff on Sunday. Colder temperatures will be seen as an advantage for the home side, with plenty of Nordic players and a packed building of Minnesotan fans cheering them forward.

Could Minnesota’s home debut take place in a winter wonderland? Maybe so. Snow is expected this weekend with temperatures dipping into the 30s.

Why Should I Care?

Minnesota hasn’t had a top-tier professional soccer team in more than 40 years. The global game has arrived in a big way in the north with Minnesota United, a team built to play with the resilience of the Minnesotan people.
