It seems that Kelvin Yeboah enjoyed his TOTM 22 appearance so much he decided to do it again — and what a way to do it. After scoring a jaw-dropping bicycle kick in Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Orlando, the Loons’ leading scorer finds himself back among the league’s best in Matchweek 23, earning a spot on the bench to reward his exceptional efforts. 

Yeboah’s 76th-minute strike was the final act in an absolutely insane five-minute flurry for the Loons, completing a wild comeback and giving them their first lead of the game after being down 2-0 in the 70th minute. While the visitors ultimately found a leveler before the final whistle, his goal sent the stadium into the kind of hysterics that live long in the memory of everyone who got to witness it, bringing Allianz Field to life and standing as one of the most impressive moments of his time as a Loon — if not his whole career. 

With 11 goals and one assist in 21 games, Yeboah has already equalled his most productive season in Black and Blue, and with 12 games left on the calendar, he looks likely to set a new standard. Three of his goals and that lone assist have all come in the last two matches, showcasing the kind of attacking form that’s liable to change a team’s season trajectory entirely. Head Coach Cameron Knowles and the boys will be hoping to see their striker keep it up in the coming weeks, as they look to make some progress up the table. 

Congrats, Kelvin: keep those shooting boots on, and make sure you eat whatever you ate before the last two games for the rest of the season. It seems like it worked.
