September International Watch Guide

Schuller vs Seattle 2018

Watch your Loons abroad and the U.S. national team as they take part in their first games since the 2018 World Cup this week.

Friday, September 7

USA vs. Brazil | 6:30 p.m. CT | FS1
Start off the weekend with the first big clash of the new World Cup cycle for the Yanks as they take on Neymar and Brazil in the Meadowlands. A youth-heavy American squad will try to make a name for itself against a Brazilian team that is looking for redemption after an early World Cup exit. It will take a Herculean effort for the U.S. to claim its first victory over Brazil since 1998.

Ecuador vs. Jamaica | 7:00 p.m. CT | ESPN Deportes
Just down the street from the U.S. game, Romario gets his second call-up to the Ecuador national team as they play a friendly against Jamaica at Red Bull Arena. He has two goals, one in each of his two appearances, while playing for the national team during the final matches of 2018 World Cup Qualifying. Will he be able to bag another against Reggae Boyz?

Saturday, September 8

Finland vs. Hungary | 11:00 a.m. CT | ESPN3
Get your Saturday morning soccer fix as Rasmus Schuller and Finland begin their UEFA Nations League journey. The Finns welcome Hungary as both squads will try to get on track for an appearance in EURO 2020 while also setting themselves up for a run at promotion to League B in the UEFA Nations League pyramid.

Tuesday, September 11

Finland vs Estonia | 1:45 p.m. CT | ESPN+
Schuller continues his UEFA Nations League campaign with another home game against Estonia. The visitors fared slightly better than the Finns in the last World Cup Qualifying campaign, picking up two more points in their group play. However, the two squads are pretty evenly matched and this one could go either way.

USA vs. Mexico | 7:30 p.m. CT | ESPN
Finish off your week of international games with one of the most intense rivalries in soccer. Both squads will have many new faces, with Mexico bringing just seven players from its World Cup roster as they begin to prepare for the 2022 World Cup. It has been a while since a good ol’ fashioned “Dos a Cero” for the Americans, and it would be a wonderful way to start off a new era of U.S. soccer.

Ecuador vs. Guatemala | 8:00 p.m. CT | ESPN Deportes
Romario's squad continues its U.S. tour to face off against Guatemala in Chicago. It will be another good test for La Tricolor as the road to the 2022 World Cup begins. Ecuador will be favored in this game, and we may see manager Jorge Celico switch things up a bit to see more of his players. With Romario being among the younger players in the squad, he could feature prominently in this fixture.

Costa Rica’s games against South Korea and Japan will not be broadcast in the U.S.
