Pride Night With MNUFC

MNUFC Pride Night

Minnesota United is celebrating the LGBTQ community ahead of Pride Month by hosting Pride Night against Orlando SC this Saturday, May 27. MNUFC was the first professional sports team to sign the Athlete Ally pledge in October of 2014, demonstrating a commitment to equality and inclusiveness – two guiding principles that the club has carried forward with it into Major League Soccer.

“Sports are incredibly powerful in society and we, as a professional sports organization, are uniquely positioned to impact our culture,” said MNUFC President Nick Rogers. “Inclusiveness and tolerance have always been important and guiding principles for our club.”

This year’s Pride Night will be the most robust demonstration from the club in support of the LGBTQ community since it joined Athlete Ally. Players will exit the tunnel surrounded by massive rainbow scarves on match day, mirroring a rainbow armband worn by the Minnesota United captain on the pitch. LED boards across the stadium will flash multicolor displays throughout the match with a special video presentation ahead of kickoff.

DJ Shannon Blowtorch will be spinning before kickoff, the Twin Cities Jacks — the only LGBT soccer club in Minnesota — will play a pre-match mini-match on the pitch and the national anthem will be performed by Twin Cities singer/songwriter Julia Brennan.

Fans can stop by an LGBTQ tabling area throughout the day and find unique scarves and socks made especially for MNUFC Pride Night at select merchandise stands at TCF Bank Stadium. LGBT Pride Month officially begins June 1, but Minnesota United is proud to start the celebration a few days early in a show of support and unity with Orlando.

Minnesota United has a special Pride Night ticket offer available now while supplies last, offering an MNUFC Trucker Hat and a ticket to the match starting at just $34. Show your support for the LGBTQ community and join MNUFC this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
