MNUFC2 returned to Blaine in dominant fashion on Thursday night, securing a commanding 4-1 victory over Houston Dynamo 2 at the National Sports Center Stadium. Goals from Luke Hille, Aidan Martinez, Loïc Mesanvi, and Issa Saidi powered the Twos to a strong home performance as they continued to build momentum in the MLS NEXT Pro season. The squad now looks ahead to its next test on Sunday, June 15, when they host Ventura County FC in another home matchup in Blaine.
10’ - Houston Dynamo 2 earned their first scoring opportunity after being awarded a free kick on the left flank of the penalty area. Jayden Puna stepped up to take the kick and aimed a shot toward the far right post, but Carlos Casillas-Lopez managed to get a touch on the ball and deflected it out for a corner.
17’ (1-0) - After gliding past a defender on the left side of the 18-yard box, Alpha Kabia earned a penalty kick for the Loons after being brought down by Dynamo 2’s Enrique Correa. Luke Hille stepped up and converted from the spot, sending the ball to the goalkeeper’s right to record his third goal of the season.
32’ - MNUFC2 continued to create dangerous opportunities, this time through Casillas-Lopez. After the ball bounced around in the penalty area, Casillas-Lopez gained possession at the top of the 18-yard box. He took a touch, flicked the ball upward, and set himself up for a volley that sailed just wide of the top right corner.
36’ - After a giveaway in the backline from Dynamo 2, Curt Calov and Loïc Mesanvi combined for a quick string of passes heading towards goal. The fast paced attack fizzled out shortly after, leading to a shot from Mesanvi that missed wide of Dynamo 2’s left post.
46’ (2-0) - MNUFC2 doubled their lead shortly after halftime. Goalkeeper Kai Zeruhn sent a long ball just past midfield to Aidan Martinez, who carried it toward the top of the 18-yard box. Martinez then fired a left-footed shot that found the top right corner of the net.
72’ - MNUFC2 midfielder Curt Calov delivered the corner kick and found Loïc Mesanvi positioned at the top of the six-yard box. Mesanvi connected with a header, but the effort sailed just over the crossbar.
74’ (3-0) - The Loons added another to the score sheet after Calov played a diagonal pass out to Mesanvi on the left flank to launch a three-on-three opportunity for the Loons. Mesanvi took on a defender before switching the ball to the right flank Issa Saidi who slipped a ball behind the Dynamo 2 backline, resulting in Calov playing the ball across the face of the goal for Mesanvi to tap it home.
76’ (3-1) - Houston midfielder Lukas Bruegmann took the corner kick, sending a low-driven ball through the six-yard box and past the defensive line. The ball deflected off Gavin Wolff and fell to Lukas Bruegmann, who capitalized on the rebound by tapping it across to Josh Bolma for the finish into the back of the net.
77’ (4-1) - MNUFC2 responded right away by quickly breaking the midfield line of Dynamo 2 and finding the feet of Kieran Chandler on the left flank. After an overlapping run from Calov, Chandler played Calov on the edge of the Dynamo 2 byline. Calov then sent a cross to the back post for Issa Saidi, who volleyed it home for the Loon’s fourth goal.
