·     Minnesota United’s last game was a 1-0 loss to the LA Galaxy at Allianz Field.

·     The game snapped Minnesota’s five-game unbeaten streak and was their first loss at home since May 1.

·     The Loons’ 21-shot total against LA was their fourth-highest of the season, and their six shots on target gave them their third-highest total of 2021.

·     Emanuel Reynoso’s 10 corner kicks against the Galaxy tied his season high, set a week earlier against the Houston Dynamo.

·     Osvaldo Alonso has played 24 games against the Quakes in his career. Juan Agudelo has played the second-most games against San Jose with just nine.

·     Minnesota United lost their first four games against the San Jose Earthquakes in 2017 and 2018 before winning their next four across the regular season and the MLS Is Back Tournament in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, the teams have met once, a 2-2 draw at Allianz Field on July 3.

·     Eric Remedi has suffered the most fouls in MLS with 67 on the year. Emanuel Reynoso is third, having been fouled 53 times.

·     Remedi is also near the top in terms of yellow cards, having collected seven to tie him for second. Teammate Eduardo Lopez is right behind him with six.

·     The Quakes are the second-most cautioned team in the league with 46 yellow cards. They’re also tied with CF Montréal for the lead in ejections with three red cards.

·     Cristian Espinoza and Reynoso are both in the top 10 for corner kicks with 54 and 74, respectively.

·     Tyler Miller is second in goals against average, letting in only 0.86 goals per game.

·     San Jose and Minnesota are both near the bottom of the list for scoring percentage. MNUFC are second-to-last at 7.6% and the Quakes are fourth from the bottom 8.6%.

·     Despite the above, the Quakes have the sixth-best shots on goal percentage, getting 38.3% of their shots on frame.

·     Minnesota Technical Director Mark Watson has held multiple coaching positions with San Jose. He was an assistant from 2010 to 2013, then took over as interim head coach for the latter part of 2013. Watson was named head coach for the 2014 season.

·     Shea Salinas and Michael Boxall played for Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2011. Salinas was briefly loaned to the Charleston Battery in 2008, where he played with Osvaldo Alonso.

·     Matt Bersano and Hassani Dotson both played college soccer at Oregon State. Bersano and Tyler Miller both played for Seattle Sounders FC 2 in 2016.
