Minnesota United returns to Allianz Field to kick off its home campaign against the New York Red Bulls. Get warmed up for gameday with some key points ahead of the home opener.


  • For the second consecutive season, Minnesota United has opened the year with two wins on the road.

  • Luis Amarilla has scored the game-winning goal in both of the Loons’ games this year.

  • Ike Opara scored twice against the Earthquakes on Saturday. It was his first multi-goal game since June 29, 2019 against FC Cincinnati.

  • Last weekend’s game was Opara’s 180th MLS regular season appearance.

  • Opara was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 2 of the season.

  • Jan Gregus assisted both of Opara’s goals and scored his first goal of the year against San Jose.

  • Gregus and Opara both earned spots in the Week 2 edition of the MLS Team of the Week.

  • MNUFC tied a club record last weekend, putting 10 shots on goal against San Jose. The last time the team achieved that mark was on September 22, 2018 at home against the Portland Timbers.

  • Last week’s 5-2 road win was the first time the Loons have score more than three goals in the road in MLS.

  • Robin Lod scored his first MLS goal last week, finishing off Amarilla’s saved penalty kick attempt.

  • The 2019 meeting with the Red Bulls was the first time MNUFC claimed a win against the Harrison, New Jersey-based club. It was also the first time the Loons scored against the Red Bulls.

  • This will be the Red Bulls first game at Allianz Field and first trip to Minnesota since 2017.

  • Osvaldo Alonso will reach 26,000 minutes played in MLS regular season games after his next 72 minutes on the field.

  • Minnesota leads the league with eight goals in 2020.

  • The Loons are currently second in the Western Conference, behind Sporting Kansas City based on goal difference.

  • MNUFC is the only Western Conference team to have not yet played at home this season.

  • Minnesota went 10-1-6 at Allianz Field during the regular season last year. The lone loss came against the Philadelphia Union.

  • Amro Tarek was a teammate of Ethan Finlay’s when we was on loan to Columbus Crew SC in 2016.

  • Mason Toye is a native of South Orange, New Jersey, just over six miles from Red Bull Arena.

  • Aaron Long played the 2014 season with Osvaldo Alonso on Seattle Sounders FC. Long then played for Sounders FC 2 in 2015 with Tyler Miller.

  • Manny Lagos played for New York during the MetroStars era in 1996 and 1997.

  •  Lagos and Chris Armas played together on Chicago Fire in 1998 and 1999. Armas was joined by Amos Magee in 2001 and 2002.
