Double the Loons on TOTM After Columbus Comeback

If you turned Saturday’s game off after the second goal, I’ve got news for you: You messed up. The Loons pulled off an exhilarating comeback against the Columbus Crew this weekend, thanks in large part to Kelvin Yeboah’s brace and Anthony Markanich’s game-winner, earning the goal-scoring pair a couple of spots on the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 11.

After a quiet start to the night, Yeboah was the man to spark the magic, grabbing the first goal from a 59th-minute corner kick. He popped up again just seven minutes later, rising like a salmon to head the equalizer home in the 66th to fully reset the game. These were Yeboah’s sixth and seventh goals of the season, bringing him back within touching distance of the Golden Boot leaders (Petar Musa, Hugo Cuypers on 10 goals). This was his first multi-goal game of the 2026 season and one of his most efficient performances from set pieces in Black and Blue.

Markanich added his third goal of the season when it mattered most, grabbing the lead in the 74th minute by getting on the end of a Nectarios Triantis cross. The man who’s always in the right position, the highest-scoring defender in the world, Antman — call him what you will. One way or another, he’s going to score, and you’re not going to know how it happened. This guy just gets it.

Yeboah and Markanich remain the Loons’ two top scorers in 2026, with seven and three goals apiece. Their reliable runs and impeccable positioning helped their side rediscover some of that deadball magic that catapulted them to a record points total in 2025, and with the climb up a crowded Western Conference still going strong, these two will be crucial pieces of MNUFC’s trophy hopes this season. Well done, lads; let’s keep the momentum going against Austin!
