AC Milan Wraps Up Training at MNUFC Training Ground

AC Milan Training

Before facing Tottenham Hotspur tonight at U.S. Bank as part of the International Champions Cup tournament, Serie A’s AC Milan spent the weekend racking up two-a-days at the Minnesota United Training Ground in Blaine. The Italian team is on a whirlwind tour of the United States that began in Los Angeles before coming to Minneapolis. They’ll next head to San Francisco to face Barcelona.

The National Sports Center played host to the team, setting them up with a locker room, weightlifting facilities and the recently renovated fields that MNUFC practices on week in and week out. So far, their experience of Minneapolis and the States overall has been a good one.

“The facilities are outstanding here in America,” said forward Fabio Borini. “The training pitch is good and we can’t wait to play at U.S. Bank Stadium. We are really enjoying being in Minneapolis. We went to watch one of the trainings of the Minnesota Vikings, which was great as I am an NFL fan. We got to go out for dinner and see the city a little bit more.”

“We work a lot, we have done a lot of training sessions,” said midfielder Alen Halilovic. “We played one match in LA and now in a few days we have a match here in Minnesota at one of the most beautiful stadiums I have ever seen on TV. We are really happy to be a part of this and to play against Tottenham.”

With the afternoon off on Sunday, Halilovic was hoping to check out Allianz Field. “Or we can go walk and take a coffee because we have worked really hard here,” he laughed. “We will rest.”
