Emanuel Reynoso Signs With MNUFC

Minnesota United announce today the club has signed attacking midfielder Emanuel Reynoso via transfer from Boca Juniors of the Argentine Superliga to a Designated Player contract. The Argentine will join the club pending receipt of his P1 Visa and ITC and will occupy an international spot on Minnesota’s roster.

“It’s been a long, drawn-out process but we’re finally glad we’ve got it over the line. We feel as though we’ve got one of the best players in the league,” says MNUFC Head Coach Adrian Heath. “This is a guy we’ve been following now for maybe a year or so. To finally get him in here is going to be a huge relief for me, a huge relief for [Emanuel] because I know it’s something he’s wanted. He’s had other opportunities elsewhere but he stuck to his principles. He’s always wanted to come here. We’re looking forward to welcoming him in to market and I’m looking forward to see what he can do with this group of players because it’s another huge piece for us moving forward. A great addition to the squad. I’d like to thank the ownership group, who’s obviously gone out on a limb and spent an awful lot of money on this guy so we’re just really pleased to get him in.”

The 24-year-old Reynoso joins Minnesota United from legendary club Boca Juniors after spending his entire career playing in Argentina. Bebelo began his professional career with his hometown team Club Atletico Talleres in Cordoba, where he made 52 appearances from 2014–2017. He joined Boca ahead of the 2017–18 season where he scored seven goals and 12 assists across all competitions, including three goals currently in Libertadores and two with eight assists in Superliga play. Across his career, Reynoso has made key appearances in major competitions such as Copa Libertadores, Copa Argentina and Copa Superliga.

“I like the league a lot because it’s growing every day,” said Reynoso. “When I found out about the club’s interest, I started to do some research on the club and the organization as a whole, and I didn’t doubt that I would like the city and the club very much. Once I got here and got an up close look at the team, I had no doubt this was a great league. My hope is to connect with the team quickly, place my little grain of sand to keep this team moving forward and together we’ll accomplish great things for this organization.”

Club Atletico Boca Juniors of Buenos Aires, Argentina is the most successful soccer team in Argentina and one of the most popular clubs in the country, next to River Plate. Founded in 1905, the 114-year-old club is ranked third in the world in terms of international titles with 22, only behind Egyptian Premier League side Al Ahly (24) and Real Madrid (26). Boca has 68 titles to date, including 33 Superliga championships and 13 domestic cups.

“We are very excited to welcome Emanuel to the club. We feel we have added a talented, young, motivated number 10 joining an already strong team,” said MNUFC Technical Director Mark Watson. “He’s a very versatile player who played many positions at Boca Juniors but we will look to play him higher up the field and get him closer to the box to help us create and score goals. Obviously, negotiations were very prolonged and complex but at the core of it was that Boca was very reluctant to let him go. In the end, it was the player who made this deal happen with his desire to come to Minnesota. He has great character, energy and work rate that will be a good complement to our club culture and philosophy.”
