MINNESOTA UNITED HEAD COACH ADRIAN HEATH

On the overall performance against Sporting Kansas City…
“I don’t think it was certainly the result we wanted, certainly not the result we expected. As I said on the evening, we were too passive in the first half, we just sort of meandered through the game. Second half, we got a little bit closer to them, our engagement line was a little bit higher up the field and we had a little bit more response from the players and I thought that contributed to a lot better performance in the second half. I don’t think we did enough with our final third entries, didn’t get enough people in the box, and that’s something that we’ve been working on.”

On the challenges FC Dallas presents…
“If you look at them, traditionally they’re very, very good at home. Obviously, this time of year the weather is going to be extremely hot, we know that. They’ve got pace in wide areas and a little bit of guile in the middle of the park and they’ve got quality players. Since they’ve come back it’s been two draws and a loss I think, so it’s not been ideal for them. That will make them even more determined to actually make sure they get on that winning trail. We know it’ll be tough, it always is in Dallas. I think Luchi [Gonzalez] has done a great job. They’ve got some great young players. We’ll have to play better than we did against Kansas to win the game.”

On the travel conditions for the rest of the season…
“We have to be ready because that’s what it’s going to be like for us and it’s going to be like for everybody. And as Kansas [City] proved, you can come out and start the game quickly, so there’s no excuses. The challenges will be the weather. You know, you don’t need a delay and everything is running that much behind but this time of year, we’re hoping that everything is good and I don’t see it as a problem whatsoever.”

MINNESOTA UNITED MIDFIELDER ETHAN FINLAY

On the overall performance against Sporting Kansas City…
“There’s some positives to take from the game, I think. We had some of our best possession, 58 plus percent, that’s a positive. Obviously, it’s disappointing to lose points at home and when we look at these six games, having three at home, we wanted and felt like we needed to get points at home. Now we put ourselves in a bit of a precarious situation having to go two away games down in the state of Texas where it’s not going to be any cooler than it is here. We’re obviously disappointed but I thought there were some good performances and I thought the games that came off the bench did a nice job for us and gave it a run at the end.”

On the challenges FC Dallas presents…
“Dallas in a way has an advantage over a lot of teams based on the fact that they’ve had three games before anyone else, and we were at the tournament and they weren’t able to participate. But I think getting into a flow of games after coming back from Orlando has been tough for a lot of teams. A lot of teams did well down there, a lot of times, it takes them a game or two probably to get into it. So they’re at a flow right now. It’s a very good team, very dangerous team. A lot of good weapons up top. A lot of great players that come off the bench. A very good team and a team we have to respect.”

On the travel conditions for the rest of the season…
“I’ve talked to some other guys around the league who have done it and I talked to a couple of the Kansas City guys after the game, asked them how it was, what they thought, what could be done better, what should we be thinking about. It’s going to be a challenge, absolutely, but this group has faced a lot of challenges. I thought we did extremely well when we were down in Orlando, which is probably one of the toughest challenges we’ve had to deal with, being away from family and friends, being in a bubble. I think we’re ready for it. I know the sports science people are doing everything they can to make sure our bodies are mentally and physically prepared. We’ll be ready to go once it’s game time.”

MINNESOTA UNITED FORWARD LUIS AMARILLA

On his first game at Allianz Field…

[ENG] “It was a marvelous experience. Obviously, not the result we were looking for because we wanted to give our fans a win. It didn’t go that way but I personally thought we played well. Things didn’t go our way but we’re getting better so that we can find the result we’re looking for which is a win.”

On working to get back to his early season form…

[ENG] “You work constantly because things can change as time goes. I know that it can take some time to get going again, and I had an injury and hadn’t been playing at 100 percent, but I work off that. Work to always improve, looking for that goal to kick things off because that’s the most important piece. I think we’re on a good path, we’re just missing a bit of luck in getting that goal. I’m calm, I know I can give more, and get better. So doing that to help the team.”
