MNUFC fans will get a chance to watch several Loons on the global stage this summer as June’s international schedule begins. Jan Gregus (Slovakia), Rasmus Schuller (Finland), Kevin Molino (Trinidad & Tobago) and Romain Metanire (Madagascar) have all been called up by their respective national teams for friendlies and confederation competitions.
Starting off in Europe, Gregus and Schuller continue their Euro 2020 qualifying campaigns. Currently leading Group E, Slovakia will play a friendly against Jordan, followed up by a qualifying fixture at Azerbaijan. Finland, still battling to reach the top of its group, start off at home against Bosnia and Herzegovina and then travel south to play Liechtenstein.
Molino will be covering a lot of ground for Trinidad & Tobago’s warm-up to the Gold Cup this month. The Soca Warriors first travel to face Japan, before returning home to take on Canada. They begin their Gold Cup campaign at Allianz Field on June 18 against Panama, and finish out group play against the U.S. and Guyana. If they qualify, the knockout rounds begin on June 30 for Group D, and run through the final on July 7.
Metanire will be very busy over the next month preparing for Madagascar’s first trip to the African Cup of Nations. Metanire’s team will begin Group B action on June 22, facing Nigeria, Guinea and Burundi. Finishing in the top two in their group or one of the four best third-place teams will qualify them for the knockout rounds which run from July 5 through 19.
