MNUFC will travel down I-35 to take on Midwestern rival Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. Meetings between the two teams over the years have been tense and entertaining affairs, and the numbers don’t lie.

30 Saves by Shuttleworth

In the five meetings between the teams, Bobby Shuttleworth has been the center of attention in almost every game. He has pulled off some incredible saves and heroic performances against Sporting KC, including finishing off a game with a broken nose. Nine of his 30 saves were made in a single game back on May 20, setting a new club record.

12 Fouls Suffered by Ibson

The Brazilian midfielder’s skill on the ball causes a lot of frustration for opposing teams, leading them to resort to less than ideal tackling techniques to try and dispossess him. Ibson has caused a lot of problems for SKC over the years, and as a result, has been wrongfully taken down many times.

5 Different MNUFC Goal Scorers

Every goal scored by Minnesota against Sporting KC has come from a different player. Abu Danladi, Brent Kallman, Darwin Quintero and Tyrone Mears are the current Loons who have gotten on the scoresheet. Mears is the only one to have scored at Children’s Mercy Park.

3 Shots on Goal in a Game for Quintero

Quintero is at the forefront of the Minnesota attack in almost every game, and that was the case in his first meeting with SKC back in May. The Colombian led the way with three shots on goal, including one goal, to set a new highwater mark for MNUFC in the series with SKC.

2 Assists for Ibarra and Danladi

They say it is better to give than to receive and Danladi and Miguel Ibarra must have gotten the message. Both players have a pair of assists against Sporting Kansas City in the all-time series. Ibarra got both of his in the first meeting of the 2017 season on May 7, guiding the Loons to victory at TCF Bank Stadium. Danladi preferred to spread his out, getting one in the May 7 game and the other on October 7 of the same year.
