2018 Preseason Schedule

Goal

Minnesota United today announced its full preseason schedule as the club looks ahead to the start of a successful second season in Major League Soccer.

The Loons will first travel to Orlando, Florida, where they will compete in a number of friendly matches. First up is a meeting with Florida International University at Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. CT. Head Coach Adrian Heath’s side will then face EFSC, again at EFSC, on Wednesday, February 7, time TBD.

“We’re really excited to kick off preseason on January 22,” said MNUFC Sporting Director Manny Lagos. “The guys will be here in Minnesota for a week to get acclimated to our community and have a good week of training indoors. From there, going to Orlando and having 10 really good days of outdoor work will be very beneficial. Finishing up with a very competitive tournament in Charleston with high-level teams to get ready for the season is exciting.”

Following its week-long stint down south, MNUFC will return home briefly before heading to Charleston, South Carolina, for the 2018 Carolina Challenge Cup (CCC), the 14th staging of the tournament.

“This will be an exciting tournament down in Charleston –– which is about a week before the season starts –– and we will get to test ourselves against some really good competition,” said Heath. “And as always, preseason is a great opportunity for the group to get to know each other and develop chemistry."

MNUFC will open CCC play against the Charleston Battery on Saturday, February 17 at 6:30 p.m. CT. It will then compete against two MLS opponents, facing Atlanta United on Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. CT and Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, February 24 at 4:00 p.m. CT.

Tickets for the 2018 CCC are currently available for purchase, and special rates for groups of 15 or more are also available. To purchase tickets, visit charlestonbattery.com or call 843.971.4625.
