Training Notes
- After suffering a concussion against Sporting KC, defender Joe Greenspan returned to Minnesota rather than traveling with the team to Salt Lake. He has entered the league’s concussion protocol and will work with the team’s medical staff.
Gaffer’s Quote
- Adrian Heath on only getting one day of prep after the last match: “The most important thing is to get the lads back moving again. Most of them, if they didn't play Wednesday night, they traveled the next day. Some have traveled from Costa Rica, so we're not going to be able to do too much. A lot of the tactical stuff will be done in-house with video work. Today, we won't do an awful lot. We'll go through one or two little bits of stuff and basically just get them ticking over and get them more mentally ready for the game than physically.”
Marquee Matchups
- Jerome Thiesson vs. Tony Beltran — Beltran has started the last three matches for RSL after struggling with back and calf issues earlier in the season, but has looked quite in-form yet. Look for the Loons to target the right wing with overlapping play from right back Jerome Thiesson.
- Ibson vs. Luke Mulholland — Both teams’ central midfielders are crafty in attacking play, but they’ll have to split their attention between creating for their own sides while seeking to disrupt each other on defense.
Horseshoe Winners
- Every Friday, the team plays a game called horseshoes where teams of two set up flat cones roughly 20 yards apart. Teammates send lofted passes to each other with the receiver having to settle the ball in one touch before it hits the ground. Closest to the cone wins a point.
