What a way to spend Matchday 2, huh? Classic weather for a real Minnesota Home Opener, three points, and a clean sheet. After their 1-0 win against FC Cincinnati this weekend, two Loons stood out above the rest, with striker Kelvin Yeboah and goalkeeper Drake Callender both earning spots on ToTM 2.Â
Up top, Yeboah hit the net for the second time in as many games, getting himself off to a hot start in 2026. His put-back header in the 66th minute was a prime example of the kind of chance that the world’s best strikers make their money on: opportunistic and smart. After following Tomás Chancalay’s deflected free kick into the box, Yeboah happily met the rebound off the post with his head, giving his side the lead and ultimately the win in front of the MNUFC faithful.Â
At the other end of the pitch, Drake Callender’s first home game at Allianz Field couldn’t have gone much better, with the Loons’ new keeper putting on an exceptional display in the second half to preserve the lead and keep his first clean sheet of the year. Beyond his acrobatic shot-stopping, Callender’s distribution shone in the first half, helping his side beat Cincinnati’s early pressure and earning the hosts a foothold in the match.Â
Now, with four points from their first two matches, the Loons are scheduled for two road matches in a row, taking on Nashville this weekend and Vancouver the next. Head Coach Cameron Knowles will be hoping to get similar performances out of both Yeboah and Callender as the year goes on, and with two tough games on the immediate horizon, their hot form to start the season could make all the difference in the early stages of MNUFC’s historic 10th season in MLS.Â
