After a three-game homestand, the Twos hit the road again this Sunday for a rematch against Real Monarchs. In the last meeting of these two Western Conference sides, Minnesota secured a home victory, beating the Salt Lake side 2-1. The Twos look to keep their three-match undefeated streak going by doubling down on that victory.

The Twos most recently drew with Tacoma Defiance 1-1 at home, taking the extra point in a 3:2 penalty shootout. The result marked their third consecutive home match with at least two points (preceded by a 3-2 victory over SKC and a shootout win over Houston). Forward Luke Hille is still tied for the club’s single-season scoring record with a tally of 10, Logan Dorsey scored his second goal of the season against Tacoma, and keeper Kayne Rizvanovich has tallied eight saves in his last three matches, bringing his total up to 33. The boys are in fine form, and now the true test will be keeping it up on the road after a tough series of away losses in July.

Real Monarchs fell 0-1 at home to LAFC 2 last weekend after a strong road run in which they crushed Houston and beat the Timbers. Aiden Hezarkhani and Jesús Barea lead the club’s scoring with five goals apiece, and recent first-team signing Marcos Zambrano, who plays for the U.S. U20 men’s national team, has been finding his footing with the second team, already scoring a brace that helped the club lock down the shutout in Houston.

Just seven games remain in the season, and with the Monarchs now fifth in the West and the Loons sitting in seventh, both of these determined clubs could be looking at their first-ever MLS NEXT Pro playoff runs. Don’t miss the action as the Loons take on Real Monarchs at America First Field, August 24 at 8:30 p.m. CT. Stream the match on MLSNEXTPro.com.
