Head Coach Adrian Heath

On the result against the LA Galaxy on the weekend…

“Yeah [it’s a bit disappointing] because I don’t think we deserved it [the loss]. I look at the opportunities that we created and that their goalkeeper saved. You saw he was man of the match, and the reaction of his teammates at the end of the game. It speaks volumes about the way we approach the game. After he [Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann] made that save in the first 30 seconds I thought that maybe it might be his day, and it was. Lot of positives to take the game, obviously the disappointment will always be the result because that’s the most important thing. In terms of positives there was an awful lot.”

On creating chances in the Galaxy game…

“Our ball movement was outstanding, I thought Reynoso was lethal in the second half. I thought there were a lot of really good performances. We made a mistake for the goal, we took a backwards step rather than a forward one and it cost us dearly, but overall when I look back there were a lot of positives. That’s what I’ve been speaking to the players about, yes it’s a disappointment, but now we have to start another one. Its not ideal on two days preparation to go to San Jose – who get after you at home the way they play – its going to be tough. I have every faith that we will be able to come again”

On preparing for San Jose…

“We were in for a regeneration day yesterday and got some work in for the guys who weren’t involved [in the Galaxy game]. We got some light work in today, we travel today and play tomorrow, back on Wednesday and you’re preparing again for another big game against Sporting. It’s a big week for us.”

On San Jose’s current run of form…

“They have slightly changed the way they play a little bit, they are not as man-for-man all over the field and in some of the games they are playing five at the back and the five at the front just get after it. It’s a bit more of a hybrid [system] from where they were, but they will see it as a good opportunity to get in and around where we are as a league. They have had some good results of late, so it is going to be tough.”

Midfielder Justin McMaster

On getting minutes against the Galaxy…

“It felt really good to be back out there and try to help the team fight. It felt good, unfortunately we didn’t come away with three points but the effort was really good at the end of the game. And we are readying up for San Jose now.”

On preparing with the quick turnaround…

“You really see the professionalism, guys are taking care of their bodies. Its very important to regen, ice baths, you know to just take care of our bodies. It’s a really quick turnaround so we have to do what we have to do to get ready for the game.”

On how you prepare to be called into a game at any moment…

“Just always be ready. Pushing myself in training, pushing the other guys as well. In this sport you can get called up at any time. You always have to be mentally ready.”

On playing San Jose…

“Last time we played against them they were a very good team. They have some quick guys up top, but we are prepared. We’ve been pushing this week in training so it should be a good game.”

On how the season has gone for you…

“It’s been something to adapt to, coming from college, its been a lot of learning. Its been a very good learning experience for me, just taking in everything day-by-day and learning from the older guys and taking the opportunity to help the team.”

On which teammate you lean on to help prepare…

“I would say Hassani [Dotson], he tries to give me advice, being that he was in my shoes at one point coming in early out of college. He has given me a lot of good advice.”
