Everyone loves a top 10, right? Being the people-pleasing writer that I am, and someone who watched (almost) every single MNFUC goal this season, it feels only fitting that I help you all relive the top 10 Minnesota United goals from 2025. I’m the undisputed expert after all, right? That’s what my résumé says, at least.
I combed through every moment the Loons found the back of the net this season to come up with one heck of a list. With 13 different goal scorers in regular-season play alone, your Loons were sharing the love this season, so I had to do the same. That means a few things for this perfect list:
- I considered the moment, the wow-factor, and the goal scorer when picking the order.
- Some bangers will be lower than they should be, or completely excluded. Trust me, it hurts me as much as you. (Sorry, Bongi.)
- Goals had to be pretty extraordinary for anyone to make it on here more than once.
- I resisted the urge to put Wil Trapp’s two goals as numbers one and two here. They get their own list.
That’s it! Those are the rules. Now, as Fabrizio Romano so eloquently says, here we go.
Top 10 Goals of 2025
10) Trapp Sets up Lod for the Leveler
I may not have included either of his goals, but did you think I could get through a whole MNUFC ranking without including everyone’s favorite CDM? It’s hard for me to decide which part of this goal is best: the pass over the top, the incredible touch from Robin Lod to bring it down, or the off-balance finish to cash it in. I guess I only italicized one part, so we’ll give the honors to that mesmerizing touch, but what a beautiful passage of play all around.
9) Triantis Picks Out the Corner in Colorado
Please see clarifiers number two and three from the intro. There’s no denying that this was a stunning goal. Triantis earned himself a double inclusion, making him the only name to appear twice on this list. Admittedly, it’s probably the third-most impressive strike on here, but clarifier number one saves me from losing sleep on letting it slip this far down. Now, stop reading my babbling and just watch it on repeat.
8) Darius Randell Scores the Winner in USOC Action
The youngest goal scorer in club history. Not a bad title! Local lad Darius Randell had himself a year in 2025, showcasing his talents with MNUFC2 and earning his way to a first-team contract. His goal against Louisville City in the U.S. Open Cup almost certainly helped him earn that call-up, and showed Loons fans that the next generation of Minnesotan soccer stars are here and ready to contribute.
7) Kelvin Yeboah Brings the Precision to Leagues Cup
Leagues Cup brought us seven goals to enjoy, but this has got to be my favorite. If you’ve ever taken a free kick, you know that the perfect spot is a few meters away from the top of the box — not right on the line. Just look at that Querétaro wall! Kelvin Yeboah wasn’t intimidated, luckily, as the striker calmly threaded the needle for one of his best strikes as a Loon.
6) Markanich Makes it Three Against SKC
Take your pick of Anthony Markanich’s impressive nine regular-season goals (not to mention his two in USOC action and one in Leagues Cup). The young defender announced himself to the league in a big way this season, making himself a crucial part of MNUFC’s set-piece dominance with his clever runs, next-level positioning, and general knack for getting to the right place at the right time. Watch this one a few times to get an appreciation for his off-the-ball movement.
5) Michael Boxall Finishes Against Austin
El CapÃtan! The long throw specialist, the steady presence in the backline, the man who sent his country to the World Cup for the first time since 2010. Michael Boxall’s got a little bit of everything in his locker, as he showed by finishing off this set-piece sequence against Austin. His understanding of the game and effectiveness helped make this Minnesota United side fire on all cylinders in 2025. Consider this a 2025 MNUFC classic.
4) JoaquÃn Pereyra with the Clutch Free Kick
Get you a midfielder who can do it all. JoaquÃn Pereyra ended the season with six goals and 11 assists in the regular-season alone, and he stepped up when it mattered to spark the greatest comeback in Loons history with this jaw-dropping free-kick goal against Seattle in Game 3. Talk about a perfect strike.
3) Bongokuhle Hlongwane Opens the Scoring Against Miami
The eventual MLS Cup champs came to Minnesota earlier this season. In case you forgot, that roadtrip didn’t end too well for them, and this is the moment the ball really started rolling. Carlos Harvey, JoaquÃn Pereyra, and Bongokuhle Hlongwane combined to make the Miami defense look like Swiss cheese for the opening goal in this 4-1 rout, and while Bongi’s backheel against Houston was technically superior, it’s hard to top the feeling of this moment right here.
2) Bangers Only, One Last Time
When you see this man’s name on the scoresheet, you know what to expect: Bangers only. At least once a season, Hassani Dotson tries something absolutely bonkers, and it turns into legend. This unreal volley opened the scoring against SKC back in March, and while the final result didn’t go to plan, it was one of the best goals in Black and Blue history. Watch it a minimum of five times before you move on. That’s mandatory.
1) Now That's What I Call a Debut
Making your debut for a new club is a big moment; why not punctuate it with an absolutely audacious goal from the center circle? That’s Nectarios Triantis’ style, as the Greek-international midfielder announced himself to MLS with this dazzling strike against San Diego. It was nominated for MLS Goal of the Year for a reason. We’ll take a few more of these, if you’ve got them, Nectar.
Before You Go
I couldn’t end this list without at least a small nod to the man who’s killing it over in La Liga right now, so in lieu of honorable mentions, it’s Tani Time. If you only watched these two goals, you’d have a pretty good idea what kind of player Tani Oluwaseyi is: unselfish, hardworking, and insistent. He’s always running, always looking to get in the right position, and always ready to play direct at the drop of a hat. Watch these two as much as you’d like. I think I speak for all Loons fans when I say I can’t wait to see how far this guy goes in his career.
Tani header vs. RSL
After scoring a grand total of 76 goals across all competitions, it was never going to be easy to narrow it down to just 10. That’s why I cheated a little bit. I don’t think anyone minded too much, though, am I right? Any excuse to relive a good moment is a good excuse. Here’s to many more goals in 2026!
