Bobby Shuttleworth

Minnesota United announced today that the club will loan goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth to USL Championship team Sacramento Republic FC for the remainder of the 2019 season with the right to recall Shuttleworth at any time throughout the duration of the loan. Shuttleworth will join Sacramento following Minnesota United’s game against Dallas on August 10.

Shuttleworth was traded to MNUFC from New England Revolution on February 15, 2017. In 33 appearances (32 starts) during the Loons’ inaugural MLS season, he managed 116 saves — second among MLS keepers on the year — five shutouts and two penalty stops. During the 2018 season, Shuttleworth managed 103 saves, two shutouts, with nine wins across 25 game appearances and starts.

The goalkeeper was an MLS Team of the Week member in Week 8 after making three saves en route to the Loons’ first shutout in MLS, a 1-0 result over Colorado Rapids. He earned another spot in Week 10 with a second clean sheet and third win of the campaign, notching seven saves in a 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City.

Shuttleworth spent eight seasons with New England Revolution from 2009–2016, totaling 127 appearances, 124 starts, 34 shutouts, 344 saves and a 46-53-28 regular-season record. The Tonawanda, New York, native anchored the Revolution during its run to the 2014 MLS Cup, tying the club record with 16 wins, and accumulated six postseason starts during the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.
