Minnesota United FC midfielder Kevin Molino was voted the Alcatel MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the 31st week of the 2017 MLS season.

Molino got an assist and scored the match-winner in a come-from-behind 3-2 Minnesota victory over Atlanta United on Tuesday, handing Atlanta its first loss at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this season. The 27-year-old has now posted seven goals and a career-high nine assists this season, with the Loons going 6-2-3 when Molino has scored or assisted in a match. The win over Atlanta was the team’s 10th on the season and a strong indicator of how far they’ve come since a rocky start.

Molino helped open the scoring for Minnesota against Atlanta when he collected the ball in midfield and threaded it between two defenders to set up forward Abu Danladi’s goal to make it 1-0 in the 48th minute.

After forward Christian Ramirez’s goal that drew the teams level in the 90th minute, Molino’s heroics proved to be the difference maker. The Trinidad and Tobago national teamer made a late run into the box and Jerome Thiesson crossed in a curler from the left wing in the 96th minute of the game. Molino expertly headed the ball towards the ground and into the back of the net to give Minnesota a dramatic 3-2 victory.

Minnesota United FC returns to action on Sunday, October 15 to take on the LA Galaxy at StubHub Center (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS LIVE).

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
