MNUFC2 announced today that the club has signed midfielder Rory O’Driscoll to a one-year MLS NEXT Pro contract, with a club option.
“Rory is someone we’ve been watching in college, especially knowing he’s local. To add him and see what we saw from him in college, he’s a very technical player, has a good understanding of the game and a great attitude,” said MNUFC2 Head Coach Cameron Knowles. “I think it’s really important to the identity of the club whenever we get the opportunity to add in local players, as they are invested from a local perspective. Rory’s been a great professional. Everyday he’s come in, he works hard and he’s been playing well. I think he’s going to be a great piece for us, a great guy to add to the locker room and a great player to add to the group.”
O’Driscoll joins MNUFC2 after playing four collegiate seasons at the University of New Hampshire from 2019-2022. A Minneapolis local, the midfielder made 63 game appearances for the Wildcats, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists across his four years in school. O’Driscoll notably earned several honors while playing at New Hampshire, including America East Conference Midfielder of the Year, America East First Team All-Conference, America East All-Rookie Team alongside team awards including the Lucas Currier Award given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of the will to overcome obstacles and the pursuit of excellence.
In his youth, O’Driscoll played with the Minnesota Thunder Academy U15/16, U17/18 and U18/19 squads. The midfielder was also a five-time State Tournament champion with Minneapolis United.
