MNUFC2 announced today that the club has signed defender Nick Richardson to a one-year MLS NEXT Pro contract, with a club option.

“Nick is a good player that has come from a good program [at the University of Maryland] and he has a solid understanding of the game,” said MNUFC2 Head Coach Cameron Knowles. “Being a guy that’s been in college for four years, he brings a maturity to our group and he’s shown good leadership qualities, among his playing qualities on the field.”

Richardson joins MNUFC2 following his prolific collegiate soccer career at the University of Maryland that spanned five years from 2018-2022. After redshirting his freshman season, the Baltimore native made 67 game appearances from 2019-2022, all starts, scored three goals and provided 13 assists as a Terrapin. During his senior season at Maryland, the right-back earned the following honors in 2022: First-Team All-Big Ten, United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team and Third Team All-American. The versatile defender was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice during the 2022 season.
