MNUFC2 announced today that the club has loaned midfielder Momoh Kamara to IF Elfsborg of Sweden’s topflight league through December 2026, with an option to purchase his contract.
“This loan is an important step in Momoh’s journey, and IF Elfsborg gives him the platform to compete, develop and take meaningful strides in his career,” said MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad. “We are excited to follow his progress and see him continue to grow, and we wish Momoh the best of luck this season in Sweden.”
"I really appreciate being part of this team and everything we’ve accomplished together," said midfielder Momoh Kamara. "I’m looking forward to this new experience with Elfsborg and the opportunity it will give me to grow and improve my skills. I will miss playing with my Minnesota teammates, but will follow along and support them the rest of their season."
Kamara initially joined MNUFC2 on a one-year loan through December of 2025, and had his option to buy exercised by the club. With the Twos, Kamara has made 15 game appearances, scoring four goals and providing four assists in just over 1,000 minutes played across all competitions.
Internationally, Kamara has represented Sierra Leone at nearly every level, first capping for the U17 side before working up to the U20 and senior National Teams. He competed alongside fellow MNUFC2 teammate, Alpha Kabia, at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Through the four matches of the group stage, Kamara scored four goals – notably including a hat trick against Egypt on April 30, also earning a Best XI honors for the tournament, and winning the Golden Boot. The 20-year-old also was capped with the senior team in March of 2025, and since then has primarily appeared in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, making six appearances and scoring one goal. Kamara notably earned a CAF (Confederation of African Football) 2025 Men’s Young Player of the Year award nomination.
