MNUFC2 announced today that the club has loaned midfielder Curt Calov to San Antonio FC of the USL Championship for the 2026 season. The Loan Agreement includes the right to recall Calov.
“We believe Curt’s loan to San Antonio presents an excellent opportunity for him to continue accelerating his development in a competitive environment,” said MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad. “He performed well last season and carried that momentum into a strong preseason, showing clear growth in his consistency and understanding of our game model.”
“This opportunity with San Antonio is a great chance for me to continue to build momentum and keep developing,” said midfielder Curt Calov. “I’m grateful to MNUFC for their trust and I am excited to keep growing, competing, and pushing my level higher.”
In his first season with MNUFC2 in 2025, Calov was a mainstay in the midfield, where he provided a team-high eight assists in all competitions across 22 game appearances, which included a start in the First Team’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 match at Louisville City FC. He scored his first MNUFC2 goal on a free kick against St. Louis CITY2 on May 18, 2025.
“As a club, we have been intentional and successful in using loans as a key part of our player pathway — we’ve seen that model work with players like Morris Duggan and Tani Oluwaseyi — and we see this as the right next step for Curt,” added El-Ahmad. “He has the work ethic, professionalism, and mentality to make the most of this opportunity, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow throughout 2026.”
Calov was previously a midfielder for Rutgers University from 2023-2024, where he made 31 appearances (29 starts), totaling eight goals and five assists provided. Prior to his time at Rutgers, Calov attended Syracuse University from 2021-2022, playing in 41 matches, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists.
