MNUFC2 announced today that the club has loaned midfielder Babacar Niang to Louisville City FC of the USL Championship for the 2026 season.

“Babacar made an impact on our second team last season and showed good growth throughout the year, and we believe that this loan with Louisville City will provide Babacar with a strong opportunity to take the next step in his development and showcase his ability at a high level,” said MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad. “We wish Babacar the best of luck this upcoming season.”

“I’m super excited to join Louisville City on this loan, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a great club while I continue to learn and grow as a player,” said midfielder Babacar Niang. “I’m looking forward to working hard, competing every day, and helping the team in any way I can.”

Niang joined MNUFC2 after playing four years collegiately at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. With the Twos in 2025, the midfielder made 20 game appearances (14 starts), notching a goal and one assist in 1,285 minutes played across all competitions (regular-season and playoffs). He also made a substitute appearance for the Loons’ First Team in the club’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 match at Louisville City on May 7, 2025, helping the squad capture an eventual 1-0 victory.

Collegiately from 2021-24, Niang made 44 game appearances, where he scored 11 goals and provided four assists across nearly 2,100 minutes played for the Demon Deacons. During the 2022 season, the Wake Forest midfielder earned All-ACC Third Team honors. In the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, Niang was notably selected as the 78th-overall pick by Minnesota United.
