MNUFC2 announced today that the club has extended the loans for defenders Juan Mosquera and Geremy Rodas. Both back-line players will have their loans remain through December 31, 2023.
“The extension of both Juan and Geremy’s loans with MNUFC2 gives us more time with them to be with our group. To be able to extend their time with us and continue to have them contributing to the team is beneficial to them and beneficial for us as well,” said MNUFC2 Head Coach Cameron Knowles. “Both have played a large role in what we’ve done this year and we’re looking forward to continuing to have them in and around the squad for the remainder of the season.”
Mosquera made three appearances, two starts, to finish out the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season. In 2023, he has made 15 game appearances, 11 starts, scoring twice in just over 1,000 minutes played for MNUFC2 this season, to-date. The Colombian midfielder joined the Loons from Cortulua of the Colombian First Division, Liga Dimayor.
Rodas joined the Loons in 2022 from Lobos UPNFM of the Honduras topflight, Liga Nacional. The 19-year-old center back has made 13 game appearances, 12 starts, in MLS NEXT Pro regular-season action, to-date. He has provided one assist in just under 1,100 minutes played on the pitch for MNUFC2 this season. Internationally, Rodas has represented Honduras at the youth level, being named to the Honduras Under-20 squad. He has so far made nine appearances while scoring one goal and providing an assist – six appearances during the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship and three starts most recently during the 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Argentina this past May.
