MNUFC2 announced today that the club has acquired Sierra Leone international midfielder Momoh Kamara via a one-year loan through December of 2025, with an option to buy, from Mattia Football Club. Kamara will join MNUFC2 upon receipt of his P-1 Visa.
“Momoh is an exciting young player with a natural feel for the game and an ability to create scoring threats against opposing teams,” said MNUFC Head of Development & Player Pathway, Amos Magee. “We really look forward to having him join MNUFC2 and we are excited to see him build on his current national team success as he continues to learn and grow as a young player.”
“I am deeply honored and excited to join MNUFC2 and Minnesota United. This is a dream come true and a huge step forward in my career,” said midfielder Momoh Kamara. “I want to thank the club for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I’m ready to give my all for the badge, the fans, and my teammates. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the team’s success.”
“Amos Magee along with Hank Stebbins, Logan Kuneck and rest of the recruitment team have done a great job finding the right mix for future talent by adding Academy players, college signings and now quality young international players such as Momoh Kamara, Troy Putt and Alpha Kabia,” said MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer Khaled El-Ahmad. “With the right coaching and environment, we should be excited about future players coming up through our ranks. This is also a testament to our recruitment team and the global attraction of Minnesota and MNUFC.”
Momoh Kamara began his playing career at a young age with Mattia FC, where he competed for the Sierra Leonean club from 2017-2022. The midfielder briefly played for Diamond Stars Football Club from 2022-2023 before he moved to Leixões SC B, playing for the Portuguese side from 2023-2024. He then returned to Mattia FC following his time at Leixões, before joining MNUFC2.
Internationally, Kamara has represented Sierra Leone at nearly every level, first capping for the U17 side before working up to the U20 and senior National Teams. He is currently competing alongside fellow MNUFC2 teammate, Alpha Kabia, at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Through the first three matches of the group stage, Kamara has scored three goals – notably via a hat trick against Egypt on April 30 – helping propel his country to the top of the group, to-date, and a Quarterfinals berth. Fans can catch the rest of Sierra Leone’s 2025 U20 AFCON matches on CAF TV on YouTube.
The 19-year-old also was capped with the senior team in March of 2025 during two CAF 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier games, making appearances in group stage games against Guinea-Bissau and Egypt.
