As soccer continues to grow in our neck of the woods, Minnesota United is proud to help drive the development of the game — on the field and on the sidelines. Between the introduction of the Alliance Program and various coaching education initiatives (including this year’s second-annual Coaching Symposium), the club has increasingly invested in making sure coaches have the necessary tools and opportunities to better serve young athletes across the region, and that includes access to US Soccer Coaching Education.Â
For the third year in a row, Minnesota United will be hosting a USSF B License Course, a six-month, blended learning course designed to teach coaches how to train elite youth or senior-level teams. It’s the third license after the Grassroots certification, and a valuable piece of any coach’s professional development. Coaches taking part in this course will focus primarily on advanced tactical concepts, game analysis, periodization, and player development, preparing them to work in a performance environment.Â
This year’s course will run from July 8 to December 20, combining a mixture of classroom and practical learning to ensure that all lessons are given proper context. Candidates must have had their C License for at least one year before taking the B License course, and must have at least three years of coaching experience. Coaches enrolled in the course must also be actively coaching a team that trains at least three times a week. All participants will be asked to complete course content with their respective teams, and will be required to attend all in-person meetings at the National Sports Center (eight total in-person sections across two windows).Â
For more detailed information on this course — or to register for it — visit the U.S. Soccer Learning Center page here or contact course administrator Scott Macleod via email at Scott.Macleod@mnufc.com.
For any coaches who don’t qualify for the B License course, feel free to check out the U.S. Soccer Learning Center anyway. This system is designed to house all U.S. Soccer educational programs, giving you access to the full spectrum of federation-led coaching and referee training.
