MNUFC Power Soccer competed in the 2025 MK Battery Conference Cup Series June 19–22, taking home fourth place in the President’s Conference after a run of intense games at the Plassman Athletic Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Minnesota United prevailed over the LA Angels on June 19 thanks to Joe Boerboom’s game-winning goal off an assist by Dee Bardell. The team fell to the Arizona Heat in their second match, but came back Friday to prevail 2-0 in their next match with goals from Boerboom and Andrew Beal. Ashrith Subash locked down the goal for both wins, logging two clean sheets for Minnesota and continuing to put in phenomenal minutes all weekend long.

The quarterfinals saw Minnesota beat the Chico Gophers 2-1 with goals from Bardell and Boerboom. A tough loss to the President’s Conference-winning Tidewater Piranhas had Minnesota competing for third place on Sunday against the Brooks Barracudas. The neck-and-neck match went all the way into triple overtime, with a Barracudas penalty kick knocking Minnesota down to fourth place in the conference.

Power Soccer, run through the United States Power Soccer Association, is the first competitive team sport for power wheelchair users. Played on an indoor basketball court, Power Soccer matches consist of two 20-minute halves with four players on each side.

MNUFC Power Soccer, run by Allina Health’s Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Center, adopted the Minnesota United name in 2022, and has accumulated a breadth of experience despite its youth. MNUFC hosted a Power Soccer All-Star Game at Brooklyn Center High School in 2023 and participated in the Phoenix Rising Invitational in both 2023 and 2025. This conference tournament is the most recent in the rapid development of a sport of growing importance in the Minnesota soccer community.
