Minnesota United announced today that the club has launched its “Cuz Maybe” campaign following the club’s sixth postseason playoff appearance, since 2019, and leading up to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals match against Austin FC on September 17 at Allianz Field.
Minnesota United clinched a playoff berth in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs for the second consecutive season and sixth time in seven seasons since 2019, following a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers, and a Sporting Kansas City victory over the Colorado Rapids, on Saturday, August 30. The Loons are currently second in the Western Conference with 51 points and a 14-6-9 record, only behind San Diego FC (56 points). With five regular season games left, Minnesota United head coach Eric Ramsay has led the team to clinching its earliest playoff berth in his second year with the club.
The Loons, who return to an Open Cup Semifinal for the first time since 2019, will face Austin FC in the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals on September 17 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. MNUFC previously advanced past Louisville City FC (USL Championship) in the Round of 32, St. Louis CITY SC (MLS) in the Round of 16, and Chicago Fire FC (MLS) in the Quarterfinals on its route to the semifinals. Historically, Minnesota United has previously reached the 2019 U.S. Open Cup Final on August 27, 2019 – a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The “Cuz Maybe” campaign is inspired by the club’s notable postgame tradition at Allianz Field, where players and supporters celebrate every victory by singing “Wonderwall” by Oasis. This postgame tradition — which has been a part of Minnesota United’s history since its NSC Stars days — gives the words “Cuz Maybe” a sense of hope, underlining the belief that this could be the year everything comes together for the club, players, staff, and fans.
The first 10,000 fans who attend the September 17 game at Allianz Field will receive a black, limited-edition commemorative “Cuz Maybe” t-shirt at gate entry as the stadium will do a full-stadium blackout to support the team. Fans can purchase Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinal tickets for Minnesota United’s match against Austin FC on Wednesday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m. CT at Allianz Field at a limited-time price of $15 on SeatGeek.
Minnesota United will look to secure homefield advantage in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series in the final five games of the season.
