Our framework defines a set of core traits—the Homegrown Attributes—that guide how we support, assess, and develop players throughout the pathway.
These are the habits, behaviors, and mindsets we believe are essential for long-term success in soccer and in life. These attributes are not tied to a position or playing style. Instead, they serve as universal anchors for what we value in all players who come through the MNUFC system.
Leadership
Players who demonstrate awareness, intelligence, and the ability to read the game. They make smart decisions under pressure and influence those around them with their actions and their voice.
Adaptability
Players who are flexible in how they solve problems and thrive in changing, unpredictable environments. They adjust quickly and effectively, no matter the opposition or situation.
Bravery
Players who are unafraid to take risks and make hard decisions. They play with courage and confidence — especially when the situation is fluid and the outcome is uncertain.
Collectivity
Players who consistently put the team first. They embrace their role, lift up others, and demonstrate a “whatever it takes” mentality to help the group succeed.
Dependability
Players who are consistent and always show up — physically, mentally, and emotionally. They understand that competition requires sustained commitment over time.
Authenticity
Players who stay true to their personal strengths and unique qualities. They know who they are, play with identity, and can express their abilities across different situations and systems.
