Minnesota United announced today that the club has signed forward Maurice Malone from SK Sturm Graz to a guaranteed contract through the 2029-30 season, with a club option for 2030-31. Malone will occupy a senior roster spot and will join the Loons as a domestic player pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Maurice Malone joins Minnesota United from Austrian topflight side SK Sturm Graz, where he made 39 total game appearances from 2025-26 – including eight UEFA Europa League Group Stage appearances – netting four goals and providing three assists with the club.
The German forward developed with his hometown club, FC Augsburg, in their youth system from 2008-19 before he signed a professional contract with Augsburg in 2019, first competing with their reserves team. Malone then spent three loan spells with Wehen Wiesbaden, 1. FC Heidenheim and Wolfsberger AC from 2020-23. During those loans, he gained valuable playing time and scored 23 goals.
Malone then was transferred to FC Basel in Switzerland in 2023, making 12 appearances for the Swiss side. While at Basel, he was loaned to Austria Wien and scored 16 goals in 48 appearances from 2024-2025, notably competing alongside current MNUFC midfielder Dominik Fitz.
Internationally, Malone previously represented Germany at the youth levels. He competed for the U17, U18, U19, U21 sides, where he made 17 game appearances and scored four goals across his youth call-ups.
