Minnesota United announced today that the club has acquired midfielder and U20 United States Men’s National Team international Caden Clark via transfer from Red Bull Leipzig of the German Bundesliga on a two-year contract, with two club options, for an undisclosed fee. Clark will join MNUFC at the start of MLS’ Primary Transfer Window in 2024. Red Bull Leipzig announced on Friday, September 1 that they have loaned Clark to Danish side Vendsyssel FF until December 31, 2023.

“Caden Clark is a talented, young footballer who is excited to be joining our club. We feel we’ve now brought in and developed a core group of young players that will leave us in good stead and help set the standard for the club over next few years,” said MNUFC Head Coach Adrian Heath. “He’s a Minnesota kid, which is another big plus for us, he’s coming home. We know what he is capable of and we’ve seen his talent here in Major League Soccer. We are really thrilled to get him beginning next season and I know our fans will be excited as well.”

Clark, who was born in Medina, Minnesota, is set to join MNUFC after spending four years within the Red Bull network of soccer clubs, most recently on loan with the New York Red Bulls (Major League Soccer) from RB Leipzig (German Bundesliga). The Minnesota native joined the New York Red Bulls in 2020, where he has made 47 MLS regular-season game appearances, scoring seven goals while providing seven assists.

While in New York, Clark has also featured for Red Bulls II, the club’s second team that currently competes in MLS NEXT Pro action, previously in the USL Championship. With Red Bulls II in USL competition from 2020-2022, he made 17 game appearances and tallied four goals.

In Clark’s youth, he played for the Minnesota Thunder Academy from 2015-2017 before competing on behalf of the FC Barcelona Residency Academy in Arizona from 2017-2020.

Internationally, the attacking midfielder currently represents the United States at the youth level. He most recently competed with the U20 team and has since made 11 game appearances since 2021 with the U20s. Clark was notably a contributing member of the squad that won the 2022 U20 Concacaf Championship, therefore helping the United States qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France and the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
