Luke Hille found the back of the net in the second half as MNUFC2 battled Tacoma Defiance to a 1-1 draw on the road Saturday night in Washington. With the match level after 90 minutes, it moved to a penalty shootout per MLS NEXT Pro rules, where Tacoma claimed the extra point by converting all but one attempt. MNUFC2 missed two from the spot. MNUFC2 will look to bounce back at home on Thursday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m. CT when they host Houston Dynamo 2 in Blaine.

10’ - MNUFC2 created the first clear scoring opportunity of the match when Samuel Shashou received the ball just outside the 18-yard box on the left flank. After a few dribbles, he created space and switched play to Curt Calov near the top of the six-yard box. Calov directed a header on target, but Tacoma Defiance goalkeeper Jacob Castro made the save to keep the match scoreless.

17’ - MNUFC2 continued to apply pressure as Wessel Speel played a short pass to Devin Padelford, who launched a long ball into the attacking third. Samuel Shashoua controlled it near the top of the 18-yard box and set up Loïc F for a one-touch shot that narrowly missed wide left of the post.

39’ - Winger Cody Baker sent a long ball to the left flank, finding Birame Diaw in the attacking third. Diaw quickly delivered another long ball into the penalty area, connecting with Yu Tsukanome near the top of the six-yard box, but Tsukanome’s one-touch effort rolled just wide of the left post.

65’ - MNUFC2 continued to be a threat throughout the match. Devin Padelford initiated the play with a long throw-in from the right flank, sending the ball into the area near the top of the six-yard box. After some bouncing around, the ball found Britton Fischer alone near the penalty spot, where he tapped it into the back of the net, only for the goal to be waved off for offsides.

71’ (1-0) - Luke Hille opened the scoring for MNUFC2 in the 70th minute. From the defensive third, Britton Fischer played a long ball into the attacking third, finding Hille unmarked. Hille carried the ball into the penalty area and curled a right-footed shot toward the far post, sending it over goalkeeper Castro and into the back of the net.

84’ (1-1) - Tacoma Defiance doubled the score off a set piece taken by Peter Kingston. His delivery into the six-yard box found Damien Alvarez at the back post, where he headed the ball into the net.

85’ - Tacoma Defiance took a quick corner, with Jackson Khoury playing a short pass to Sebastian Gomez, who then found Peter Kingston on the left edge of the penalty area. Kingston sent a long switch across the box to a teammate who directed a header on target, but Wessel Speel made a crucial save to keep the match level.
