MNUFC2 fell 3-0 to St. Louis CITY2 on the road Sunday afternoon at Energizer Park. Despite creating several attacking opportunities throughout the match, the Twos were unable to find the back of the net. MNUFC2 will return to action next Sunday, March 15 when the Twos travel to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at 8:30 p.m. CT.

11’ (0-1) - St. Louis CITY2 opened the score when Jemone Barclay played a through ball for Palmer Ault down the left flank. Ault carried into the 18-yard box near the endline before pushing it over the line from a tight angle.

21’ - MNUFC Academy goalkeeper Keane Perkins made his first save of the match in the 21st minute after Cooper Forcellini carried the ball down the left side and into the penalty area. He then played a square pass to Barclay, positioned near the top of the 18-yard box. Barclay fired a left-footed shot, but Perkins was forced to dive to his left to collect the ball.

26’ (0-2) - The home side doubled their lead, this time on a transition moment. Mykhi Joyner was in the right place at the right time when he tapped-in the shot inside the six-yard box after beating the MNUFC2 back line to the ball that was sent in from the left flank by Ault.

30’ - MNUFC2 midfielder Momoh Kamara drove the ball deep into the Minnesota attacking third and was fouled just outside of the top of the goalkeeper’s box. Kamara then took the direct free kick, but the shot was blocked, ending the Twos’ first dangerous scoring opportunity.

41’ - During continued high-pressure up the field by the Twos, Kamara and First-Team forward Marcus Caldeira forced St. Louis goalkeeper Lucas McPartlin to make a short pass, which came back towards the keeper, but Caldeira’s quick touch just went wide of the far post.

44’ - Caldeira received the ball from midfielder Luciano Pechota deep inside St. Louis’ box, where he took a close-range shot that was ultimately saved by McPartlin.

51’ - MNUFC2 got another dangerous opportunity after some bouncing around in the penalty area. Ultimately, Caldeira played MNUFC Academy defender Anderson Farris, who then played a short pass for Kamara, but the attempt went wide of the left post.

53’ (0-3) - The host triple the lead after a long cross from Riley Lynch conects with Jack Wagoner. Wagoner then headers the ball for Mykhi Joyner, who carries into the penalty area and rounded the goalkeeper before pushing the ball over the line.
